This piercing is made with surgical steel 316L coated with a thin layer of 18k gold who is made of a nickel free alloy. The gold covers the 316L making a seal preventing the body to get in contact with the nickel inside the 316L kernel. Gold jewelry should never be used in new or unhealed pericings as body fluids have an inclination to discolor the metal and make it bleed. Allergy to gold plated 316L is very rare but is still prevalent. Please be aware that gold is a soft material, and can easily be scratched. When used as tonguebars the beans gets easily scratchy due to chewing.
